On the east coast of the Cotentin near Utah Beach, the stakes of the hedges of the dune cord seem to extend those of the mussel farms on bouchots exposed at low tide. The coastal strip stretching from Pirou to Donville-les-Bains and to the Chausey archipelago on the west coast of the Cotentin represents the main area for the production of bouchot mussels. On the east coast of the peninsula on the northwest part of Normandy, their culture mainly marks the landscape of the Utah Beach sector famous for the June 1944 landing.
