In 1986, Franck Bonin took over from Bernard Devaux, the founding creator of the initial project, at the head of the Tortoise Village of Carnoules in the Var department and in charge of the SOPTOM (Station for the Observation and Protection of Tortoises and their Environments). This veterinarian, who chose to dedicate his life to the protection of tortoises, is also the president of the La Tortue des Maures company created in 2016.
