A protected park over two departments
The territory of the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park extends across the Calvados and Manche departments over 360,774 acres (146,000 ha). While 74,130 acres (30,000 ha) of marshes and polders give the park its name, the winter floods submerging the marshes truly make the area unique by whitening the wetland. More than 1,500 species and subspecies of flora have been recorded on this haven of remarkable biodiversity since 2000.
