The Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park extends straddling the Calvados and Manche departments. Created in 1991 and divided between bocage, moors, and the Normandy coastline, its marshes are home to a significant diversity of fauna and flora over 360,774 acres (146,000 ha) spread over 150 municipalities. More than 74,000 inhabitants live in this natural area. At the gates of Carentan-les-Marais, the Maison du Parc allows discovering a Sensitive Naturel Area of 247 acres (100 ha) dedicated to the observation of the local fauna.
