In both summer and winter, the summit of Puy de Sancy offers hikers a 360° panorama over the whole of Auvergne and beyond. The four valleys of the Massif du Sancy – Chaudefour in the North-East, Fontaine Salée in the South, Dordogne in the North and Biche in the West – are visible, and the peaks the massif dominates – like Puy Ferrand or Puy Gros. A trained eye will be able to spot the plateaus of Cézallier, Limagne and Artense, and even the lakes Pavin, Chauvet, Bourdouze, Chauvert, Montcineyre, Chambon, etc.
