Located approximately 1,148 ft (350 m) above sea level, sheltered from the mistral on the southern slope of the Monts de Vaucluse, the town of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt extends over a break in the slope. It stands at the point of contact between the northern borders of the agricultural land of the Calavon valley and the first foothills of the Monts de Vaucluse. This medieval village articulated around the remains of its castle offers a privileged panorama on the Luberon massif and the Alpilles and largely dominates the plain between Roussillon and Villars.
