A characteristic white muzzle
The Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) is distinctive by its dove-grey coat. The foal keeps its soft fur during its first year, which makes it very popular with children. Its adorable white muzzle gives it a soft plush look. Adult around the age of 4, its back has a crucial band of black hair that runs down its shoulders. With their great intelligence, it was not uncommon in the last century to see donkeys loaded with milk jugs returning by themselves to the farm after the milking of cows in the pastures.
