The Pont du Gard is the most visited ancient monument in France. This UNESCO-listed aqueduct is located in the heart of a region with a rich historical heritage, near the cities of Avignon, Uzès, and Nîmes. A true emblem of Antiquity as well as a major technical feat, the Pont du Gard sits enthroned in a natural site that has returned to its original wild state since its redevelopment. In 2000, the Grand Site operation gave the bridge back its original setting, with no car traffic and no surrounding buildings.
