Queyras is a mountain area located in the Southern Alps in the northeast of the Southern Region. It straddles Italy that surrounds it on three sides and with which it only communicates by the high road of the Agnel Pass (9,002 ft / 2,744 m) and mule tracks used by hikers. Surrounded by high passes, the Queyras is connected to the Briançonnais by the Izoard pass (7,749 ft / 2,362 m) and to the Guillestrois by a single road suspended above the narrow opening of the Guil gorges.
