A fish market at the end of the Old Port

The fish market in the Old Port of Marseille is probably as old as the city itself. From 1909 to 1976, it was installed in the fish markets of La Criée on the Quai de Rive Neuve, since transformed into a national theater on the pediment of which the inscription Criée libre aux poissons still appears. Today the fish market is held every morning on the Quai de la Fraternité, at the end of the Old Port, near the boats of the fishermen who unload and sell their catch directly after returning from fishing.
