A magnificent cultural vessel

Frank Gehry is an architect known for his work on the Vitra Museum in Weil-am-Rhein (1989), the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao (1997), and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles (2003). For the Louis Vuitton Foundation dedicated to contemporary art, Gehry wanted “a magnificent vessel that symbolises France’s cultural vocation”. Close to the Jardin d’Acclimatation inaugurated in 1860 by Emperor Napoleon III, the glass nave is a variation on the glass and steel architecture of the late 19th century. The building is built with great respect for the environment and sustainability standards.
