A place of contemplation and rejuvenation

The location of Boscodon Abbey, in the heart of a forest in the mountainous department of Hautes-Alpes, as well as its transformation into a hamlet in the 19th century made it a high place of the Resistance during the Second World War. A stele visible in the car park bears witness to this decisive role. In the early 1970s, the community of Chalais bought the site to offer the department, which did not have any, an abbey as well as a place of contemplation and healing. A community of religious Dominicans then settled there, and the Association des Amis de Boscodon was formed to restore the building to its original purpose. Today, the abbey located on the passage of many hikes is open to visitors.
