A lake teeming with fish

Created in 1971 as a drinking water supply source for the city of Metz, Madine Lake sits at the top of Montsec Hill, inside the Woëvre plain. Its rich and varied biodiversity includes numerous fish species that attract both fishing enthusiasts and birds. The lake's waters are filled with pikes, zanders, carps, catfishes, tenches, and roaches. Hundreds of migratory birds that come to nest or rest in Madine Lake's reed beds feed on this abundant aquatic fauna.
