The black-backed jackal is omnivorous. It feeds on whatever is available on its territory, from rodents, to insects, reptiles, carrions but also plants or even fruits. However, this leopard tortoise has nothing to fear. Its carapace is far too hard to be broken by this young jackal's jaw.
