Located on horse-breeding lands in the Orne department, the Haras National du Pin forms an imposing architectural and landscape ensemble over an area of 2,718 acres (1,100 ha) crossed by symmetrical paths. Specialized in horse breeding, the first Haras Royal (Royal Stud) of Louis XIV was nicknamed the Versailles of the Horse. Today, it benefits from high-end competition surfaces such as the Parc du Haut Bois cross-country track used for the World Equestrian Games in 2014. The Haras National du Pin annually hosts more than two hundred competitions (show jumping, dressage, eventing, sporting or traditional driving, amazons, breeding competitions, etc.) between April and October.
