The Gabinière islet in the Port-Cros National Park is listed as an integral reserve. It is especially renowned for its seabed exceptionally rich in brown groupers (Epinephelus marginatus) due to its large underwater boulders and scree, which provide multiple hiding places for this sedentary species. The largest grouper population is visible west of the islet at a depth of 49 ft (15 m). A drop-off located to the east also hosts many moray eels and a school of barracudas. In the south, an isolated rising rock allows the observation of capons, scorpion fish, castagnoles, sars, oblades, mullets, sea breams, amberjacks, or dentis.
