A very prolific hyperaccumulator

The Nickel tree (Pycnandra acuminata) is one of the most prolific accumulators in metal traces. It actively absorbs the nickel from the soil and accumulates it notably in its sap which concentrates up to 25% of nickel citrate. This excessive concentration of toxic metal ions in only some of its tissues would allow it to survive the metal toxicity while escaping herbivores.
