An impressive colony of howler monkeys lives on the tops of the tall trees of Jeanette Kawas Park, breeding here, safe from hunters and poachers. Their cry is so powerful that it echoes for miles around. The Spanish conquistadors, on hearing this worrying howl, thought it was the devil himself.
