A biodiversity hotspot with a tropical rainforest
0
0
Martinique is one of the thirty-five global biodiversity hotspots thanks to the richness of its natural forest, coastal, and aquatic (sea, rivers) environments. The tropical rainforest is one of the eight ecosystems that can be observed there. This hygrophilous environment notably covers the north of the island and is full of plant species. Among them are those bryophytes capable of revival. Devoid of a vascular system, they absorb water and nutrients through all of their tissues.
