The Montagne de Bure forms a high plateau in the center of the Dévoluy massif. Its summit corresponds to the southern end of this vast plateau formed by an entablature of Senonian limestones drawing an anticlinal vault and forming a sort of shell hiding older grounds. The Montagne de Bure is partially colonized by the facilities of the NOEMA observatory, an astronomical laboratory.
