In the Gard department, the arena of Grau-du-Roi is a major attraction. This Mecca of Camargue races and bullfighting brings up to 3,000 spectators at once each year from Easter to October. The young local inhabitants can be trained in Camargue races in the arena by the famous raseteur Sabri Allouani, the idol of a whole generation. In Camargue races, the raseteur is a contestant dressed in white who confronts the bull and aims at catching the cockade and other attributes attached to its horns.
