Notre-Dame-de-Reims cathedral constitutes the peak of 13th-century Gothic art in Europe. The monument still has a clear unity of style despite successive reconstructions. Some are smiling, a particularity that constitutes a novelty in religious iconography at that time. In 2019, Reims Cathedral welcomed 1.6 million visitors.
