The stables of the Haras national du Pin have 150 box stalls for the reception of horses. They form closed spaces of approximately 88.5 square ft (27 m²) equipped with a water trough and a manger where the horses live alone without being tethered. In double stables (photo), a central aisle separates two rows of box stalls. Other types of stabled accommodation are possible such as stalls - where horses are tied head to the wall and separated from others by a simple side wall - and free stalling.
