A fire is lit under the mould
0
0
During the successive stages of production, a charcoal fire is maintained under the bell mould. The successive layers of the mixture of clay, horse dung, and fibres dry slowly. There again, it is an experienced worker who controls the strength of the fire. Once the last layer of coating has been applied, the charcoal fire is energised. The wax letters and wax decorations thus melt, leaving their imprint in the cope of the mould.
