A flour building on two levels

The flour building of Cluny Abbey is a rectangular construction on two levels. Its ground floor visible here is a vaulted cellar. Its warheads are carried by columns that divide the space into two naves. The framed upper floor was intended for the storage of grain and of the monks' provisions. This granary and the other storage buildings built in the south-east sector of the Cluny monastery in the second half of the 13th century would be the work of Abbot Yves de Vergy (1257-1275) and his successor Yves II (1275-1289).
