The twelve glass sails of the Louis Vuitton Foundation are fixed to reinforced concrete volumes covered with Ductal sheets. Developed over the last 20 years by major cement manufacturers, Ductal is an ultra-high performance fibre-reinforced concrete that combines flexibility and ease of use with high mechanical strength (nearly 10 times that of traditional concrete). Architect Frank Gehry has devised buildings that are completely outlandish, in which chaos seems barely kept in check, like the 8 Spruce Street skyscraper in Manhattan. His concern for the environment and harmony makes Frank Gehry a source of inspiration for young architects.
