A pond on the Mediterranean

The pond of Gruissan is located on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea in the Aude department. This lagoon pond adjoins the town of Gruissan, whose name it bears, and covers an area of 358 acres (145 ha). It is part of the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Nature park and presents an average depth of 0.49 ft (55 cm) to 3.94 ft (1.20 m). The pond of Gruissan and its surroundings have been listed as French natural sites since 1963.
