Approximately one quarter of the surface area of the Invalides buildings is used by the Musée de l’Armée. At the same time a repository of armament techniques, a place of history, remembrance and celebration of military achievements and soldiers, the Musée de l’Armée is full of archival images, uniforms, objects and weapons that trace the history of France. Meanwhile, the Hôtel National des Invalides continues to serve as a military hospital and hospice for veterans. The residents’ centre is complemented by a medical-surgical centre and by the centre for study and research on the fitting of the disabled.
