A natural area shaped by geology

The Luberon Regional Nature Park forms a privileged natural area that gives pride of place to geology, from the rounded ridges of Grand Luberon to the rocky valleys of Petit Luberon, passing through gray marls and colored ochres among pines. Geology, a fundamental and omnipresent component of the landscapes and reliefs, partly determines the land use of this 1149.5 sq mi (1,850 km²) territory. It consists of 56% of forests and semi-natural environments, 30% of agricultural surfaces, and 1.4% of urbanized spaces.
