The Sancy cable car, departing from Le Mont-Dore, takes you to the upper station at an altitude of 5,823 feet (1,775 metres), leaving 377 feet (115 metres) to climb to reach the highest point of the Sancy peaks, at 6,184 feet (1,886 metres). The peak can be accessed by a wooden staircase of 864 steps, covered in snow in this photo. On arrival, you can enjoy an exceptional panoramic view of the whole region using the orientation table to distinguish the other landmarks.
