The loop of the river Seine at Les Andelys is part of the largest classified site in the Eure department, covering nearly 11,352 acres (4,594 ha). The urbanization is strictly supervised so as not to spoil the view of the Seine. Constructions must also meet established standards and merge with existing ones. They must include framing and chaining of aged red bricks or local white stone (stones from the Seine valley or grouette), while their coating can only be ocher. The fences must be hidden by hedges of hornbeams or hawthorns.
