Located in the vast plain of Woëvre, Madine Lake is bordered by the Côtes de Meuse's hills rising to 1,486 ft (453 m). The site is fed by annual precipitation (55%), the Madine stream, drainage ditches, and surface and depth streaming. Its waters' level is regulated by a bottom valve and a surface spillway. Madine Lake plays a primordial ecological role in the balance of the region's biodiversity.
