Flax is a particularly technical culture that requires know-how, specific equipment, responsiveness, and timing. Each year gives birth to a particular vintage, and the quality of the fibers will determine the future of the harvest. The Terre de Lin factories, based in Saint-Pierre-le-Viger, consist of several buildings, each dedicated to one stage of flax fibers transformation. The machines first rid them of their straw matrix, flatten them, comb them, and finally form a large ribbon of silky fiber. The golden linen fiber, which seems like hair, is stored in metal barrels and shipped to the four corners of the earth to be spun.
