The Bayeux Tapestry consists of 58 scenes, of which 25 are in France and 33 in England, with ten scenes dedicated to the Battle of Hastings. The tapestry is divided into nine pieces of linen fabric assembled over 224 ft long (68.3 m). Ten colors of woolen thread are used to represent with perspective effects the 626 characters, 37 buildings, including the Mont-Saint-Michel, 41 ships, and 202 horses and mules.
