The construction works of the Allées Provençales lasted about ten years from the mid-1990s until the delivery of the block closest to the Rotonde in 2007. The first block, located the most westerly nearby the Grand Théâtre de Provence, was achieved in 2004. The proximity of the Allées Provençales with the Rotonde, the main crossroads of Aix-en-Provence, places this new district as close as possible to the city center and in its continuity in order to have the historic center benefit from the attractive power of the Allées Provençales and, conversely, to enrich them with the prestige of the historic city.
