The Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park was recognized in 1986 for its natural resources as well as the value of its heritage and landscapes. Its territory was then threatened by rural devitalization, urban pressure and the uncontrolled exploitation of its resources. Its classification implies the commitment formalized by a charter of all the actors of the territory and of the one hundred and six member municipalities to protect and enhance its natural, cultural, human and economic heritage by implementing an innovative and environmentally friendly development policy.
