The Port-Camargue district in the municipality of Le Grau-du-Roi consists of a classic type marina and docks. Created by the Mission Racine, it is an emblem of the development of mass tourism initiated on the Mediterranean coast in the 1960s. With a basin of 148 acres (60 ha) and 4,500 berths, the port is today the largest marina in Europe and extends next to the old fishing port of Le Grau-du-Roi. Port-Camargue is located equidistant between Ajaccio in Corsica and Maho in the Balearic Islands.
