The black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) is a slender and elegant shorebird, easily recognizable for its long and thin red legs, its white body, and its black wings. A migratory species, it is present in large numbers on the marshes of the ornithological park of Pont de Gau in Camargue from its arrival in March. The black-winged Stilt stays there until it departs for the south of the Iberian peninsula or Africa at the end of August.
