A department with thirty-nine lakes
0
0
Renowned for the Chaîne des Puys, Massif du Sancy, and its nature parks, the department of Puy-de-Dôme is also home to 39 lakes and water bodies of all kinds. Among them are lakes of volcanic origins, whether crater lakes such as Lake Servières, Gour de Tazenat, or Lake Pavin, or natural reservoirs created by lava flows such as the lakes of Aydat or La Cassière. The department also comprises lakes of glacial origin, mostly peat bogs like Saint-Alyre Lake, dam or dike lakes like Aubusson Lake, and artificial ponds like the body of water of Saint-Rémy-sur-Durolle.
