A cemetery since June 7, 1944

The American Graves Registration Service (ARGS) deals with the bodies of fallen soldiers. Only 3% of US soldiers who died in Europe remain unidentified out of the 206,677 killed. At Omaha Beach, a temporary cemetery was set up as soon as June 7, 1944, in the Dog White landing sector. Today, the permanent cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer is partly built on what was then called the Cemetery of the V corps, as almost all the buried soldiers belonged to it.
