In 1997, Anthony and Carole Bamford, British citizens, acquired both the seigneurial Léoube castle located in Bormes-les-Mimosas, set back from the Bay of Hyères in the heart of the listed site of Cap Bénat, and the promising terroir of the 1,384 acres (560 ha) property. Between pine forests and garrigues, the vineyards and olive groves of the estate stretch from the slopes of the Maures hills to the fine sandy beaches of the Var coast, which they border for 2.4 miles (4 km) facing the Îles d'Or (Golden Islands).
