Ugni blanc is a highly productive, vigorous, and upright grape variety that gives large cylindrical and compact clusters with more or less amber-colored berries. Its branches, which are particularly sensitive to the wind, should preferably be carried out on wires and carefully trellised. Not very resistant to winter frosts, Ugni Blanc must be planted on dry slopes with strong sunlight. This grape variety is used in the production of many dry white wines and Cognac.
