Since 2011, the three rings of the Cité de l'Automobile's motor-racing area have constituted a playground for vintage cars enthusiasts. They allow the museum, the first of its kind to shelter such equipment, to grow from 10 to 20 acres (4 to 8 ha). The Mulhouse automobile circuit is also a site of prevention about road risks. It welcomes a road safety center and advanced educational tools, such as a low-grip track, emergency braking simulators, or moving obstacles.
