Cap Fagnet dominates the Channel and the coastal town of Fécamp in the Seine-Maritime department. From there, the Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast) can be seen up to Étretat. The Heurt de Fécamp has always been a strategic site. From its moat, historians know that it first housed a Gallic village (oppidum) and then Notre-Dame-du-Salut (Our Lady of Salvation) Church from the 13th century. Traces of the Atlantic Wall of WWII are still present as a large blockhouse initially equipped with a Mammut, a radar with a 656 to 884 ft (200 to 300 m) range. Others were fitted out with Tobruks, blocks for machine guns.
