A monumental candelabra
0
0
At the base of this five-branched candelabra on the Alexandre-III bridge, a group of three bronze cherubs, Cupids, hold garlands of flowers and dance among large river fish. The sculptor Henri-Désiré Gauquié also added crabs and frogs to the carp and pike. The small glass globes of the candelabra are moulded in the shape of scallops. All along the bridge, the bronze candelabras were made by the art foundry Lacarrière Delatour & Cie, also known for its lighting fixtures and the monumental chandelier of the Opera Garnier.
