In 1935, on the initiative of Didier Daurat, a former Latécoère employee, Beppo de Massimi created the Air Bleu postal company, whose main shareholder was Louis Renault. The company undertook to carry the mail overnight. Air Bleu bought a dozen Caudron C-630s, capable of carrying at least 300 kg of mail over 621.4 miles (1,000 km) at a speed of 150.4 mph (250 km/h). Equipped with an artificial horizon, a gyro compass, a radio as well as wing de-icers, the blue planes could fly on instruments in all weathers. Air Bleu provided a regular and punctual service from Le Bourget to many French cities in 1935 and from 1937 to 1942.
