Two species of amphibious sea snakes (Laticauda laticaudata and L. Saintgironsi) circulate in large numbers in the New Caledonian lagoon. They feed mainly on moray eels and conger eels and about fifty other fish. They lay eggs on earth and are faithful to their place of birth.
