A renowned craftsman in a Historical Monument
0
0
Partly housed in a building dating from before 1830, Robert Marichy's turnery in Arinthod has been listed as a Historical Monument since 2015. The craftsman represents the third generation of woodturners to officiate there. At 88, he has not lost his passion for woodworking, particularly boxwood. He was dubbed Meilleur Ouvrier de France (French craftsperson of the year) in 1990, and his workshop displays the wooden piece that earned him this prize: two tiny bicycles in turned wood. Since his retirement, Robert Marichy has devoted himself to reproducing the masterpieces crafted by the other Meilleurs Ouvriers de France.
