A small and stocky animal

The Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) is firmly rooted in Norman heritage. It was used as a pack animal to transport goods or as a harness animal in the fields. At Domaine d’Esthine, its solid structure and tranquillity are appreciated traits. The females measure 1.15m at the withers, and the males 1.25m. Contrary to their reputation, they are not stubborn and enjoy working with human beings. Their dove-grey coat and dark-hued St Andrew cross on their backs give these valiant little workers a fine look.
