With its 1.25m at the withers, the Cotentin donkey (Equus asinus) may not be as slender as a horse, but it still looks sharp. It has a beautiful dove-grey coat, a short and straight mane, a massive neckline, and a straight head. Its eyes, muzzle, belly, and the inside of its legs are grey-white. Its shoulders and back are marked by a mysterious brown or black cross. It is said that this is the distinctive sign of the donkeys originating from Palestine, and there are many legends about it.
